The City of Thompson requires permits for several types of activities. Please review the City of Thompson Fee and Fine Schedule for up-to-date costs associated with these permits.
Planning:
The City of Thompson issues a number of planning-related permits, including the following:
Building Permits
Occupancy Permits
Relocation Permits - Mobile Home
Relocation Permits - Ready-to-Move Home (RTM)
Demolition Permits
Plumbing Permits
Development Permits
Regulation of Traffic:
1) Parades - Under the regulation of Traffic by-law all parades conducted within the City of Thompson require a permit that can be obtained from City Hall. The permit requires the approval of the R.C.M.P., Thompson Fire and Emergency Services and the City of Thompson Licencing Dept. If your are planing a parade/demonstration/march/etc. please pick-up an application at City Hall and allow four (4) to six (6) weeks for processing. There is no charge for a Parade Permit.
2) Street Closures - If it is required that a street be closed to traffic within the City of Thompson a permit is required that can be obtained from City Hall. The permit requires the approval of the R.C.M.P., Thompson Fire and Emergency Services and the City of Thompson Licencing Dept. If your are planing a block party, or any event that will require a Street Closure Permit please pick-up an application at City Hall and allow four (4) to six (6) weeks for processing. There is no charge for a Street Closure Permit.
Wood Salvage Permit:
In order to salvage wood within Thompson, the City requires a permit be first obtained. See Salvage of Dead Wood By-law No. 1650-99 for further details.
Alarm Systems Permit:
