Garbage Collection |
Automated Waste Collection carts are being implemented beginning Fall 2009. Public Works will deliver one waste cart to each home. For more information read the brochure. Watch this instructional video or call Public Works at 677-7970
The City of Thompson also holds an annual Spring Cleanup Program, whereas groups or organizations select desired areas throughout the City and pick up all the litter in their designated areas. The Spring Cleanup Program usually runs during the month of May (weather permitting).

The City of Thompson Public Works Department is responsible for the removal and disposal of all garbage, rubbish and ashes from all residential premises, churches, charitable institutions and City-owned facilities on a once-per-week basis.

Automated Recycling Pickup
The Thompson Recycling Center and the City of Thompson provide the city with automated recycling pickup .Glass is only accepted at the recycling depots, it cannot be picked up with automated pickup due to safety factors. View the automated recycling pickup brochure that was delivered with all new carts.
The City of Thompson has set up recycling depots throughout the city. We ask that these are not used for garbage disposal and that material is sorted appropriately into the labelled containers.

Waste Disposal SiteThe Waste Disposal Site is owned and operated by the Local Government District of Mystery Lake, and is located approximately 5 km south of the City of Thompson on Highway No. 6.
