The Manitoba Department of Local Government and communities throughout the province are joining forces to deliver a climate change program and
we're participating.
This is a great opportunity for our community to reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions so that local residents can:
vSave Money
vLive Healthier
vSupport Local Economic Development
vProtect our Environment and its Resources for Future Generations
Climate Change Action Plan
Our community is developing a climate change action plan that identifies projects and activities to reduce GHG emissions. We have until the 15 March 2010 to identify projects and activities we would like to include in our Action Plan and we need your input!
How You Can Get Involved
IT'S EASY. Do you have ideas to reduce GHG emissions? Contact Andrea Hatley (677-7766), your Community Climate Change Co-ordinator for more information or to share your ideas. Stay tuned, over the coming months, for community events related to the development of our
local climate change action plan and community based GHG emissions reduction activities.
Our community-led solutions to climate change will be in the areas of:
vactive and alternative transportation venergy efficiency
v landscaping and lawncare v waste reduction
The time will soon be here when my grandchild will long for the cry of a loon, the flash of a salmon, the whisper of spruce needles, or the screech of an eagle.
But he will not make friends with any of these creatures and when his heart aches with longing he will curse me.
Have I done all to keep the air fresh?
Have I cared enough about the water?
Have I left the eagle to soar in freedom?
Have I done everything I could to earn my grandchild’s fondness?

OTHER COOL VIDEO CLIPS Green Police ... A sign of things to come?
Bob, an ambitious farmer plans to diversify and profit from climate change by turning his land into a seaside resort. By increasing his carbon footprint in ludicrous ways, he draws our attention to everyday actions and behavior around energy use.
Tomorrow's Climate, Today's Challenge This short film, produced by COI for Defra,
shows that if you could see the
greenhouse gases we are creating,
then you'd do something about it.
A short of the film "Blessed Unrest" is our eyes and ears inside the movement at the “front lines” of the seismic re-shaping of our world, from businessmen to bushmen to the beat, pulse and potential of Gen-Y, letting us in on the massive changes from the inside out. It is (r)evolution in the flesh, urgent and blessed, that is real-life, real-time, life-and-death stakes stories of rebirth, resistance, refusal, retreat from violence, redress and restoration happening all over the world and at once.
Blessed Unrest- Listen to a short clip of Paul Hawkin speaking on the emerging movement which we are a part of. In BLESSED UNREST: How the Largest Movement in the World Came into Being and Why No One Saw It Coming, Paul Hawken—bestselling author and one of the world’s leading activists—tells the remarkable history of a global environmental and social justice movement comprised of over 1,000,000 organizations. We are not alone!
