The Thompson Recycling Center (TRC) provides the City of Thompson with high quality
residential and commercial recycling service.  They offer free curbside pickup with or
without a blue box, have several recycling depots throughout the City, and there are
 no requirements to sort materials.

The TRC is a non-profit community driven recycling organization, which is directed
by a volunteer Board of Directors and is operated by a Manager and eight full-time staff.
The TRC consistently seeks out new and innovative opportunities to expand the recycling operation,
developing partnerships with local and regional organizations, provincial and federal departments
and communicating with other recycling communities.

The TRC has a number of ongoing partnership programs including the Manitoba
Education and Training Trainee Development Program, which assists individuals
to obtain work experience, and the necessary skills required to retain full time employment.

The TRC has been an active partner in the development and implementation of the
Northern Regional Recycling Initiative. This initiative, coordinated by North Central Development,
a regional community economic development corporation and driven by the communities of Nelson House, Norway House,
Gilliam, Split Lake, Leaf Rapids, Cross Lake and Wabowden, involves the
development of recycling operations in these northern communities with the TRC
acting as the central recycling facility.

The TRC has also partnered with Manitoba Conservation Waste Reduction and
Pollution Prevention Branch to develop upon the current facility therefore enabling the
TRC to become equipped to handle the role as a regional recycling center for the outlying northern communities.
