USER GROUPS TOUR TRCC DEVELOPMENT
Thompson Regional Community Centre ‘Phase Two’ Underway

THOMPSON – The Thompson Regional Community Centre is well into construction and development of the new rink and facility. Stakeholders from the Norman Northstars, Skate Thompson and several other user groups toured the construction site on Wednesday to see the latest improvements of phase two.
The C. A. Nesbitt arena is being rebuilt with new energy efficient lighting, a two lane walking path and a larger, regulation size rink. The old bleacher style seating is being replaced with 593 fixed seats though the capacity of the arena will not be reduced. Other upgrades to the facility included the installation of larger panels of glass allowing spectators to see action on the ice from a better viewpoint. Two new score boards and a new radiant heating system will also being installed.
“The City of Thompson is committed to having a facility that this generation can use,” stated Mayor Tim Johnston. “We are lobbying the provincial and federal governments for funding to move the TRCC into phase three”. Phase two is expected to be complete by mid December.
