My name is Wayne Koversky and I am the Director of Public Works and Operations. I have been employed with the City for 39 years of which 8 years have been with the present position. I enjoy fishing, snowmobiling, and spending time with friends and family.

Public Works is responsible for the operation, repair, and maintenance of the City's general utility system, infrastructure, and equipment necessary to provide the residents of Thompson with services such as water distribution, wastewater collection and treatment, garbage collection, snow removal, etc. within a responsible budget as set out by Council.

Public Works (PW) consists of four (4) general areas - Water and Sewer, Labour,  Mechanical, and Waste Disposal Grounds is comprised of a total of 39 full-time and approximately 6 seasonal employees on a yearly basis.

  • Burntwood Trailer Court – Drainage Work

    Please be advised that the drainage works will be starting in the Burntwood Trailer Court the week of August 8, 2017. People are asked to drive slowly in the construction area and follow all the signs. Work will include installing catch basins, manholes and installing LDS line.   • August 17, 2017 - Public Notice - Boil Water Advisory

    REVISED - The City of Thompson will be undertaking planned work on water distribution lines at the water treatment plant on August 16 and 17, 2017. Due to the length of time that the water system will be shut off the City will automatically be place on a boil water advisory which will be in affect on August 17, 2017. For details please refer to the Public Notice and fact sheets below. Any inquiries, please call 204-677-7910.

  • Excavation Westside of Princeton Drive

    Please be advised that excavation work for the Multi Use Path along Princeton Drive has started. Excavation is being done on the Westside of Princeton Drive from Highland Tower to Mystery Lake Road. For the safety of our crews and the public, Residents are advised to be cautious around the construction site and reduce your speed. City of Thompson appreciates your patience and co-operation while the work is being done.

  • Street Lights - Beaver Crescent and Deerwood Drive

    Due to the ongoing water main renewal, the power to the street lights on Beaver Crescent and Deerwood Drive was disconnected to avoid any accidents during excavations. Once the project is complete, the power to the streetlights will be restored.
