Homelessness Partnering Strategy

The Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) is a unique community-based program aimed at preventing and reducing homelessness by providing direct support and funding to the Thompson Designated Communities funding stream. HPS encourages communities to work together with partners to develop community plans to address the needs of homeless people at the local level.

The Thompson Community Advisory Board on Homelessness (CAB), is empowered by Human Resources and Social Development – Service Canada (HRSDC-SC), and Thompson, Manitoba to provide advisory services relevant to the delivery of the Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) funding provided to Designated Community Funding for Thompson, Manitoba. This mandate is for the period commencing February 1, 2014 until March 31, 2019. Under the Designated Funding Stream, HPS funds are targeted to local priorities identified by the community, and must be cost matched (directly or in kind) by other funding partners contributing to the community plan.

Role of the Community Advisory Board:
CAB will set priorities (Community Plan), decide the method of soliciting applications, define project selection criteria and determine which projects will be funded by the Designated Community funding stream.

The role of the City of Thompson is to be the Community Entity and provides assistance and guidance to the Community Advisory Board through the Thompson Housing Agency.
